Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado da Bahia – FAPESB, no uso das suas atribuições, torna público o Edital FAPESB 014/2013 e convoca pesquisadores doutores vinculados a instituições de ensino superior, pesquisa e/ou inovação, localizadas no Estado da Bahia, a apresentarem propostas com o objetivo de obter apoio financeiro para o desenvolvimento de projetos de pesquisa com foco em ações de intervenção visando a prevenção, o diagnóstico e o tratamento de doenças negligenciadas na Bahia, em consonância com os dispositivos da Lei Federal 8.666/93 e suas modificações posteriores; da Lei Estadual 9.433/05, do Decreto Estadual 9.266/04 e demais dispositivos legais e regulamentares vigentes e ainda em conformidade com as orientações constantes no Manual do Pesquisador Outorgado disponível no portal http://www.fapesb.ba.gov.br.

Senior Fellowship in Public Health and Tropical Medicine
The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. Established in 1936 and with an endowment of around £10 billion, it is the UK’s largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research.The purpose of the Senior Fellowship in Public Health and Tropical Medicine is to support outstanding researchers from developing countries to establish themselves as leading investigators at an academic institution in a developing country location. This fellowship is the most senior of a series of career awards aimed at building sustainable capacity in areas of research that have the potential for increasing health benefits for people and their livestock in low- and middle-income countries.Research projects should be aimed at understanding and controlling diseases (either human or animal) of relevance to local, national or global health.
Data Limite: Applications are now considered three times a year. The next preliminary application deadline is 10 May 2013.
AAPM Research Seed Funding Grant 2012
The American Association of Medical Physicists (AAPM) is an international organization and provides a variety of programs, membership opportunities, and resources for medical physicists, students, and related medical and scientific professionals anywhere in the world. The purposes of the AAPM are to promote the application of physics to medicine and biology, encourage interest and training in medical physics and related fields. The AAPM is pleased to offer the Research Seed Funding Initiative which provides start-up funds for research-oriented medical physicists. Two award will be made in 2012 and is intended to provide funds to develop exciting investigator-initiated concepts, which will hopefully lead to successful longer term project funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or equivalent funding sources.

Vienna Biocenter PhD Program
The Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) is a basic biomedical research center sponsored largely by the pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, and located in the Campus Vienna Biocenter (VBC). The Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) and IMP together form the IMP-IMBA Research Center. The aim of the VBC PhD Program is to provide one of the best scientific educations in Europe. With supervision provided by outstanding scientists, program students will answer important biological questions and work towards scientific independence throughout the course of their PhD thesis. Research at the VBC covers a range of topics in modern biological sciences, including gene regulation, cell division, neural circuits, and evolutionary genomics. The VBC PhD programme supports its students in their scientific explorations, providing state-of-the-art equipment, expert scientific advisors, and extensive scientific and administrative support.

Winter selection: 15 November (website opens for applications on 15 September);
Summer selection: 30 April (website opens for applications on 1 February).
Journal of Cell Science Travelling Fellowships
Journal of Cell Science (JCS) is an international peer-reviewed journal in the field of cell biology that is published by The Company of Biologists, a not-for-profit charitable organization run by biologists for the benefit of the biological community.Through the Travelling Fellowships, JCS offers fellowships to graduate students and postdoctoral researchers who wish to make collaborative visits to other laboratories.
Data Limite: Deadlines for applications are 30 April, 31 August and 31 December 2012.
SEB Company of Biologists Travel Grants
The Society for Experimental Biology (SEB) aims to promote, and increase the influence of, Experimental Biology within the scientific community and Society by:
1. Developing the field of, and scientific careers in, experimental biology;
2. Developing education and public awareness in experimental biology;
3. Developing collaborative partnerships;
4. Maintaining transparency, ethical and environmental sensitivity in every sphere of activity;
5. Ensuring the financial viability of the Society.
SEB offers travel grants to support Biologists who wish to attend a Conference or gain research experience in the UK or abroad. The funding has been kindly offered to the Society by the Company of Biologists which also supports its meetings and offers reduced subscriptions to its journals. See Forthcoming SEB Meetings

The Wellcome Trust is an independent charity funding research to improve human and animal health. Established in 1936 and with an endowment of around £10 billion, it is the UK’s largest non-governmental source of funds for biomedical research.The Wellcome Trust supports research of the highest quality with the aim of improving human and animal health, and our Strategic Plan provides the framework for how we intend to evolve our support to be even more effective in achieving this aim.Senior Research Fellowships in Clinical Science provides support for clinical investigators to further develop their research potential and to establish themselves as leading investigators in clinical academic medicine. Fellowships are awarded annually to candidates of exceptional ability and outstanding promise.

ASM/ICAAC Infectious Diseases Fellows Grant Program
The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is the oldest and largest single life science membership organization in the world. Membership has grown from 59 scientists in 1899 to more than 43,000 members today, with more than one third located outside the United States. The members represent 26 disciplines of microbiological specialization plus a division for microbiology educators. In 2005, ASM expanded opportunities for Infectious Disease Fellows and created the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) ID Fellows Grant Program. This program offers ID Fellows a unique opportunity to attend ICAAC and participate in an experience specifically tailored to their educational development needs. This select group of Fellows will have the opportunity to hear keynote talks targeted to them, participate in mentored poster walks, receive overviews of recommended sessions for attendance, interact with ICAAC Program Committee members, and be given personalized attention including daily discussions to help them maximize their educational and career development experience. Continuing the program for 2013, a subcommittee of the ICAAC Program Committee will select ID Fellows both from U.S. and International Infectious Disease/Clinical Microbiology Fellowship Programs. Recipients will be contacted following their acceptance by ASM staff to assist in making their travel arrangements. All Fellows participating in this program will be housed in the same hotel and will receive an itinerary of events for the week. The 2013 ICAAC will be held in Denver, Colorado September 10 - 13, 2013.
