SFI Omidyar Postdoctoral Fellowships
The Santa Fe Institute (SFI) is a transdisciplinary research community that expands the boundaries of scientific understanding. Its aim is to discover, comprehend, and communicate the common fundamental principles in complex physical, computational, biological, and social systems that underlie many of the most profound problems facing science and society today.

The Omidyar Fellowship at the Santa Fe Institute is unique among postdoctoral appointments. The Institute has no formal programs or departments. Research is collaborative and spans the physical, natural, and social sciences. Most research is theoretical and/or computational in nature, although some research includes an empirical component. SFI averages 15 resident faculty, 95 external faculty, and 250 visitors per year.

Grand Challenges Explorations Grants - Innovation in Global Health Research (Round 6)
In 2003, the Grand Challenges in Global Health initiative was created by the Gates Foundation to help researchers achieve the scientific breakthroughs needed to prevent, treat, and cure the diseases of the developing world. The Grand Challenges Explorations initiative is an expansion of the Gates Foundation’s commitment to the Grand Challenges in Global Health. It supports hundreds of early-stage research projects – including many ideas that have never before been tested - and scientists from a wide range of disciplines and regions. The Explorations initiative funds innovative ideas that could lead to new vaccines, diagnostics, drugs, and other technologies targeting diseases that claim millions of lives every year.

Each round of the Grand Challenges Explorations initiative awards grants against a set of specific topics. In addition, Foundation consider whether a topic will engage the participation from scientists outside traditional global health disciplines, as well as researchers working in the developing world.
For Round 6, the topics are:
1.                Design New Approaches to Cure HIV Infection;
