Dear Colleagues:
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is pleased to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the second annual Gates Vaccine Innovation Award to celebrate and spur transformative ideas for achieving impact through immunization.
The foundation will recognize the winning innovation with a US $250,000 prize.
The 2012 Gates Vaccine Innovation Award recognized the work of Dr. Asm Amjad Hossain, a former district immunization and surveillance medical officer in Bangladesh. Read a blog post about Dr. Hossain’s experience here.
We invite you to nominate individuals or groups of individuals who have achieved significant improvements in the prevention, control, or elimination of vaccine preventable diseases through immunization.
It is open to individuals from any discipline who work on the delivery of vaccines. Candidates from academic institutions, governments, health care facilities, research institutions, non-profit organizations and for-profit companies may be nominated.
We recognize that innovation in the delivery of vaccines can take many shapes. For this award, we are looking for ideas big or small that have resulted in tangible improvements in immunization coverage in developing countries.
Nominations are being accepted online through August 31, 2012. More information is available at: http://www.gatesfoundation.org/gates-vaccine-innovation-award.
Please feel free to share this message with anyone who may be interested in nominating.
Thank you for your commitment to helping give everyone the chance to live a healthy, productive life.
