On Board Entertainment

Entretenimento a bordo, hoje em dia, pode realmente ser bom. Além dos já tradicionais filmes, algumas cias. aéreas disponibilizam documentários nas telinhas do avião. Em uma viagem recente, tive a oportunidade de assistir a um episódio da série "Brave New World" com Stephen Hawking. A série foi feita pelo Channel 4, britânico, e no episódio "Tecnhology" os apresentadores mostram como a tecnologia está moldando o nosso futuro.  Os apresentadores mostraram, por exemplo, o MIT media lab e um trabalho de "reality mining" no qual as informações coletadas pelo uso do celular e das redes sociais podem servir para prever padrões de comportamento humano. Houve também uma descrição do 3D printing e a possibilidade de imprimir, em 3D, peças de maquinário ao invés de produzí-las a partir de um bloco de material. O 3D printing permitirá, por exemplo, um uso mais racional de materiais e menos desperdício. Leia-se: sustentabilidade.

Me chamaram a atenção a maneira como a ciência é apresentada, em linguagem acessível e de maneira extremamente interessante. A música e a inserção de alguns monólogos de Stephen Hawking enquadram o tom futurista. Não há como ficar encantado ou, em inglês, mesmerized...
