Climate Change and the Role of the Health Care Clinician: Education, Mitigation and Adaptation

April 14, 2011

Health Care Without Harm and Practice Greenhealth are hosting two free Climate Literacy webinars titled Climate Change and the Role of the Health Care Clinician/Administrator: Education, Mitigation and Adaptation; one is intended for administrator use and one for clinical use. The webinars will feature new PowerPoint presentations which focus on the health effects of climate change and the role of the health care sector. David McCombs of Practice Greenhealth will be presenting on April 12 and Dr. Bob Gould, President of SF Bay Area PSR, will be speaking on April 14.

The webinars are scheduled for 10am PST (1pm EST) on April 12th (for Administrators) and April 14th (for Clinicians), the week before Earth Day.

The goal of these presentations is to educate healthcare clinicians and administrators about the science and health impacts of climate change. As a healthcare provider, you can play an important role in encouraging and informing hospital facilities, patients and communities about how to reduce their carbon footprints and best prepare for the anticipated health and environmental impacts of climate change. These presentations are designed to introduce concrete solutions that you can advocate for at your healthcare facility to reduce emissions, save energy, and eliminate excess waste. They also can serve as a guide for you to work with other local stakeholders to design key preparedness and adaptation strategies within you communities. We look forward to your participation in this exciting event.

These Webinars will provide continuing education credits for Physicians, Nurses, and Health Care Executives.
